The Story of Cray Dimensional

I wasn't always an author.

As a matter of fact, I spent most of my time programming computers. But something happened to me that changed my perspective. For several years the story of Psych Wars developed in my mind. It wasn't until September 2017 that I decided to put Faith and Randy's struggles to paper.

What I discovered in the process is that I love writing. It gives me a sense of peace as the stories unfold in my mind. So I decided to continue my journey as an author — and take my readers along for the ride.

Through the Eyes of a Canine

A new short story in the beloved Ring of Fire universe.

My latest published short fiction appears in Eric Flint's 1632 & Beyond, the ongoing magazine continuing the celebrated alternate-history saga that began with 1632.

Told through a perspective you won't expect, it's a story about loyalty and seeing the world anew — set against the sweeping backdrop of the Ring of Fire.

Psych Wars

Not all wars are fought with bullets on the battlefield.

Some are fought online, where it is unknown if the players are real or imaginary. The marriage of Faith and Randy is threatened by one such psychological battle. Faith, a shy blogger, stumbles on messages from the future warning of a catastrophic event she must prevent — caught between saving Randy, the love of her life, or saving the world.

In the fog of a Psych War it's tough to tell what's real or imaginary. Just when you think you know the answer, the game changes.

I have a new story out in Eric Flint's 1632 & Beyond — and this one asked me to write from a point of view I'd never tried before. I won't say more than that. Some stories are best walked into without a map. Come find out what's waiting in the Ring of Fire.

Endless Loop

Colorful lines of computer code
Confusing World of Computer World

A black night christened with an orange moon
Beckons my family to sleep with its silent tune.

But I don't feel the pull of slumber.
My mind can't stop processing the clutter.

It's like a computer stuck in an infinite loop.
Continuously crunching the data from Internet and books.

Each word, font, or letter is a clue,
For a solution to the problem it pursues.

How can I bring all people together?
When dissimilarity makes them bicker.

There is no answer to discover.
So, my mind is left continuously searching clutter.

Round and round it goes
Blocking out the real-world woes

Like my child's request that he would like,
His mama to teach him to ride a bike.

I'm happy to say the loop was finally broken,
By outside help who showed me I'm not alone.

Now in the sunshine I cry with joy,
As I play baseball with my boy.

My mind now focuses on problems that end,
Like how to make a single friend.
